I am taking a course on the history of US music industry, and it is making me very depressed. Just looking at history and seeing that from day one it was run by people who are in the business of business (my least favorite kind of people, I find them infinitely boring, and in turn, they find me weird and only tolerate me for my anatomy… and I know it). But one random fact that I just learnt from the course made me laugh. You know how today, we have Spotify, Shopify, some other -fy, along with a million – paloozas (and this lack of imagination annoys the fuck out of me)?

I learnt that the first commercially successful record player was called Victrola, made by Victor. The next one was called Columbia Grafonola. Very original. Yayayayaya.

P.S. It’s entirely possible that I am the only person on Earth who just found out about it. Regardless, I find it hilarious.
